Uttarakhand or Uttaranchal are words related to a single state. Which is situated in the northern part of India. Uttarakhand state is well known for its pilgrims, Himalayan mountain, Hindu temples. And the very famous highest lord shiva temple in chopta.
Are Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh the same states in India?
Well, actually it was the same state before 9 November 2000. The Bharatiya Janta Party had decided to segregate the state into two parts. The earlier one is the same as Uttar Pradesh, and the new is uttarakhand state.
Uttarakhand has divided into two parts?
Uttarakhand is still a big state after the partition of Uttarakhand. That’s why the Indian government had divided Uttarakhand into two divisions. The first is Garhwal, and another one is Kumaon.

- 2. Kumaon Region
Several districts come under the Garhwal region such as Rudraprayag, Dehradun, Pauri Garhwal, Haridwar, Chamoli, and Uttarkashi. The local language of the Garhwal region is Garhwali, and the famous cuisines here are Garwhal ka Fannah, Phaanu, Jhangora Ki Kheer, etc.
The Kumaon or kumaun both the words relate to the same region in Uttarakhand. The Kumaon region has a variety of food and ethnic wear too. It included Champawat, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Nainital, Almora, and Udham Singh Nagar.
They speak the local language as a kumaoni and Kumaoni dance is quite famous in Uttarakhand.
